As associate professor at the Faculty of Economics and Business of the University of Talca (Chile), I inquire how people understand dynamic systems. The quest for how dynamic and complex situations are represented, how people use their understanding to generate decisions, designs and strategies and how this understanding can change over time is my research theme. The dynamics of systems also are the major topic of my teaching. I am an active member of the System Dynamics Society – currently the President Elect of its Policy Council. And as such, I actively strive to bring systems thinking and modeling to the school system.
Academia
Projects
My projects aim at developing methods to help learning about dynamic systems, to measure and compare mental models of dynamic systems and to develop helpful tools in this domain.
Publications
My research has been documented in a series of journal articles. I’ve also published textbooks and a series of conference contributions.
Simulators
Simulators allow to experiment and perceive behavioral patterns, then formulate hypotheses and try them out simulating. They may be used for research experiments and for teaching.
Media
Desarrollo videos con fines de apoyar la docencia en dinámica de sistemas y en economía. Es un trabajo continuo.
